Happy Monday,
I heard a quote yesterday that said “you don’t need a better life, you need clearer eyes.” and it couldn’t be more true.
Right now, this very second, you’re living in moments you once prayed for… and the issue is, you barely notice them.
While that may sound dramatic, it’s also the simple truth.
Over the past few years I would’ve done anything just to have some clear stability, some forward momentum. Just to feel like I wasn’t drowning in confusion.
And now that I have those things, some days I still catch myself wanting for more before I’ve even appreciated what’s here.
I realized that rather than reflecting on the past, I was constantly looking to the future and worrying about the present. And in doing so, I was robbing my peace… constantly restless.
Why It’s So Easy to Miss What We Have
We live in a world that profits from your dissatisfaction.
Every scroll shows you someone ahead of you.
Every headline tells you to want more.
Every comparison quietly convinces you that you’re behind.
So eventually your brain gets trained to scan for what’s missing.
It desires more progress, recognition. More money.
More validation.
And the cost of that constant chasing is your peace.
Imagine working towards something for months, finally achieving it, and within hours already thinking about the next big thing. That was me. No pause. No appreciation. Just movement.
That’s not ambition. That’s blindness. (there’s a big difference)
What Gratitude Actually Is
Gratitude isn’t pretending everything is perfect.
It’s awareness.
It’s realizing that your body still works.
That you have another shot today.
That you survived things you thought would break you.
It’s noticing the small wins before they become expectations.
Gratitude doesn’t make you complacent.
It makes you grounded.
When you’re grounded, you build from strength instead of anxiety.
You stop making desperate decisions.
You stop chasing applause.
You start moving with intention.
How I Practice It
Gratitude is simple, we just forget to remind ourselves sometimes. Some mornings, before I touch my phone, I sit there for a minute and name three simple things that are already working in my favor.
Nothing impressive. Just real.
The fact that I woke up with air in my lungs.
The roof above me.
The warm bed that I’m in.
At night, I ask myself one question. What went right today?
Some days the answer is small. A good conversation. A workout. A moment of clarity.
But small things compound.
They shift your focus from “lack” to abundance.
So before you chase the next level of whatever game you’re in right now, make sure to pause.
Look at your life with honest eyes.
You are standing in answers you once hoped for.
Don’t rush past them!
That awareness won’t slow your growth.
It’ll strengthen it.
Let’s crush this week and make February a month worth remembering ;)
